Sharps

ARD have extensive experience in sharps removal, disinfection and disposal health, safety and environmental responsibilities, pathogens and disease transmission, standard infection control procedures, exposure control plans, types of biohazard contamination and proper remediation and waste management.

ARD provide a sharps removal, disinfecting and disposal service for needles, syringes and all kinds of other bio hazardous waste produced by illegal drug users.

sharps waste are often found/discarded in abandond buildings , squats, bins, toilets and public areas such as parks, closes and in properties used as shooting galleries. These items  all represent a high health risk. Blood borne pathogens (HIV, Hepatitis) are extremely  infectious & even minimal contact with them can have life threatening consequences.

The main risk that is posed by needle-stick injuries (NSI) is to the workers that are exposed to the blood-borne viruses (BBV) who are not aware of the discarded and sometimes purposely hidden/planted needles.

The 3 main viruses concerned are:

Hepatitis B (HBV).

Hepatitis C (HCV) and

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
